It because of Ukraine didnt have the money to extract large amounts of oil and gas and due to either laws in Ukraine or laws in the EU it meant that foreign companies couldn’t come in and extract the oil and gas themselves which meant Russian exports of oil and gas were safe while yes Ukraine and the EU have had relations for quite a while however the Ukrainian government was pro Russian so once again Russias oil and gas exports were safe but in 2014 Ukraine relations with the EU increase and incidentally or on purpose you decide that’s the same year that really this entire war began with fighting between Russian forces and Ukraine in the separatist regions then Russia took Crimea which also has oil and gas however things quickly escalated when the pro Russian government was ousted and replaced with a pro western government and well in 2021 te Ukraine and eu thing became more serious and I think Russia knew that now Ukraine will actually join the EU and Russian troops began invading Ukraine however the one thing stopping them at the time was either nato troops or troops from NATO members acting independently from nato were in Ukraine near the border with Russia in response to the staging of Russian troops on the border how as the likelihood a full invasion became more likely those foreign troops left most likely because no one wanted to get involved unless they were certain they had the full backing of NATO which they would get in article 5 comes into effect and well because Ukraine isn’t a member yet article 5 while yes article 5 doesn’t means that all members must assist militarily (in simple terms go to war it just says that must respond as they see fit but we all know that practically every nato country will go to war if it’s against Russia. So there is no guarantee that NATO would have given the full support so they left Ukraine and Russia came Now the reason why is because if Ukraine joins the eu it would be the companies that were not allowed to come into Ukraine and extract the oil and gas because they companies in question are EU companies and well effectively if Ukraine joins those companies would no longer be foreign companies since Ukraine would be a part of the EU and well those companies would have come into Ukraine and started extracting the oil and gas and well if that happened that would mean the EU had gas and oil reserves themselves and wouldn’t need to purchase oil and gas from Russia therefore slashing a large portion of Russia’s GDP And if you look at the war they focused on trying to gain control over Kiev which if they were successful Ukraine would have fallen and the aim in any invasion wear the end goal is to take control of the country isn’t to take parts over one by one it’s to go to the capital and get rid off the government because if you control the government you effectively control the entire country however Russia failed to do this so instead of turning back and admitting defeat they decided to focus on gaining control of the western and southern regions and I know they aren’t just focusing on these areas because Russian forces has easily access because there is very little fighting in the northern regions that share a border with Belarus even though they have easy access to those areas they are still focusing on the west and the south which are the exact regions that have oil and gas

Vast mineral and gas deposits make it the most resource rich region in the world and it is largely untapped. China and Russia are on a cooperative path to dominate the arctic by any means necessary. All NATO countries have a saying in what other NATO members consider necessary to be done? Who would be the main beneficiaries of a new East-West military confrontation? Is this desired by the western people? Consider what the media manipulation of hundred of thousand mean and, who controls the media and, who separates the media from the political establishment. That would be INSANE. Sweden and Finland just signed their own death warrants. A war is coming soon over control of the Arctic. Vast mineral and gas deposits make it the most resource rich region in the world and it is largely untapped. China and Russia are on a cooperative path to dominate the arctic by any means necessary. Why would Austria want to risk going to war over Scandinavia? It’s all risk and no benefit. Especially since the US will be leaving NATO. Turkey is waiting to pounce when conditions are right… they will turn on NATO members in a heartbeat and join Russia/China. Turkey wants to take over the entire Mediterranean if they could get away with it. They believe from Greece to Spain should all be under Turkish control. Hungary and Serbia would NOT join in a war over Scandinavia… they would leave NATO instead. Even Poland would be tempted to leave NATO. Russia would offer them a free hand in Norway, Kaliningrad, the Baltics, western Ukraine from Kiev to Odessa, and Transnistria if they left NATO. Poland needs cheap raw materials. If it controlled all the way down to Odessa they would be in control of all trade between Europe and Asia and make a fortune on transit fees alone. If Poland has to decide between fighting Russia or doubling their territory with a stroke of the pen you think they would choose to fight? I don’t think so. Poland has been sending signals for over a year now that they do NOT want to fight Russia. Poland would bear the majority of losses and in the end gain nothing.
The Austrians are not threatened by Russians like the Nordic people were due to their geographical location. They are already protected from their aggression by NATO regardless of their status so it is pointless for them to join military alliance. Plus, they have neutrality enshrined in their constitution.
